Sex and Love Addiction

The Problem

Did you find out that your spouse or partner has been cheating on you or has been going to strip clubs, massage parlors or compulsively going on pornographic web sites? Have you been engaging in one or more of those behaviors and you want to stop but can’t?

Do you get involved with and/or stay in unhealthy relationships to avoid feeling inadequate, alone and unworthy? Do you rely on others to help create your identity, thinking that they have the answers to your questions and your quest for wholeness? Do you set aside your own needs or desires in order to satisfy others and then resent people later when they don’t show their appreciation or don’t treat you the way you think they should?

Do you go from one relationship to the other or one sexual liaison to another, mistaking sex for love? Do you attempt to numb the pain of being alone through one night stands or multiple sex partners, obsessing about relationships, and or viewing pornography and masturbating to get that hit?

If you can relate to any of these behaviors or thoughts, you may be a sex and love addict. Sex and love addiction cuts across genders, socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion.
